Have you had the road trip of your dreams this summer?

If not, there’s still plenty of time! If anything, heading out on a road trip towards the latter end of summer actually comes with a whole load of benefits. Schools vacations are over, the roads are quieter, and accommodation is cheaper; so what are you waiting for?

If you’re planning on heading out and exploring the open road in the late summer sun, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Moda in Pelle we’re talking all things road trips, including style advice and top tips to see you on your way.

Make A Plan

While it can be tempting to just head out and see where the road takes you, preparation is key for any trip! Plan exactly where you’re going, and any attractions, events or locations you want to stop off and see on the way.

It is also important to think about where you are going to be sleeping during your trip. Being organised ahead of time is truly the best way to cut on costs, as you can add up expenses before you even set off. Look out for camping locations, or even consider a route passing by friends who would allow you to stay the night, and enjoy ultra cost-effective road tripping.

Safety Check Your Car

From oil to tyre pressure, the most important thing to check before you head out is that your car is ready for the journey ahead. Double check everything and be organised for your journey with spare tyres, oil and coolant. In the worst case scenario, an emergency kit including flashlights, tow ropes and blankets is also extremely sensible to have to hand.

Stock Up Before You Set Off

Ensure you’re not paying twice the price at an overpriced gas station by stocking up on essentials before you set off. Head over to the grocery store and make sure you have plenty of bottled water, mints, gum and small snacks to tide you over until your next dinner stop.

Take Regular Breaks

Driving for long periods of times inevitably leads to fatigue. This means you’re much less responsive and far more likely to have an accident. Ensure safety comes first at all times by switching drivers or stopping to rest every few hours.

Make A Playlist

Crossing state lines means you may struggle a little with radio connection, and no good road trip is complete without music! Avoid any radio mishaps and instead make a road trip playlist, including feel-good songs to suit every member of your party.

Keep Comfortable

And finally, there is no worse way to spend hours on the road than being uncomfortable! Comfort is key on long journeys, so make sure your outfits are on-point.

What To Wear On A Road Trip

  • Light layers are ideal for changing temperatures. A button up cardigan, hooded top or jumper is ideal for layering up on cooler evenings.
  • Sunglasses are a must, especially if you’re driving.
  • Leggings, loose trousers or joggers are all perfect for keeping you comfortable when sitting in the car for long periods of time.
  • Comfortable footwear is also a must, whether you’re the driver or riding shotgun. Leave the statement heels at home and instead opt for a practical pair of ballet flats or sneakers.
  • Eliza Black Suede
