4th July Party Wear: What Footwear To Wear

With the 4th July almost upon us, have you decided how to mark the occasion? Or, perhaps even more importantly, have you decided what to wear?

Whether you’re heading out to enjoy the parades, staying in for a BBQ or pool party, or marking the occasion with a cocktail (or two!), you need the perfect shoes for the event.

Here at Moda in Pelle we have you covered. We’ve detailed our top footwear picks for all your Independence Day celebrations, so you can rock red, white and blue in true style.

Golden Globes 2018: Top Style and Footwear Picks

The Golden Globes are always a memorable affair — this year, however, they were memorable for a different reason.

The 75th Golden Globe awards took place on Saturday 6th January and as a display of support for the Time’s Up movement, which protests gender inequality and sexual harassment in the workplace, the vast majority of women opted to wear black ensembles.

This sea of black clothing, symbolising the women of Hollywood standing together in solidarity, certainly made a powerful statement. From a fashion point of view, it also allowed the women to make their looks their own and celebrate femininity through the little touches.

Rather than restrict, the powerful black theme allowed the ladies to experiment with textures, silhouettes, cuts, embellishments and accessories, showcasing their own individuality while making a powerful combined statement.

Sit back, and enjoy some of our favourite red carpet style picks…

Embellished boots

Heeled boots are always a go-to in the colder winter months; they can (quite literally!) elevate a look while ensuring your feet remain warm and comfortable — what’s not to love? Kerry Washington led the boot brigade at this years Golden Globes with these stunning embellished ankle boots.

Featuring a low sitting ankle length and a chic stiletto heel, these ultra sophisticated boots consisted of a black transparent design with unique floral and gem detailing. Paired with her stunning glittering asymmetric dress, these embellished beauties brought just the right amount of sparkle to Kerry’s look.

If you have a special occasion coming up and have fallen in love with the embellished boots trend (and we can’t blame you!), inject instant sass into your look with the Liberti Black Alcantara Heeled Shoe Boots.

Chic low ponytails

One hair trend that was all over the Golden Globes was waves. We’ve fallen head over heels with the effortless look sported by Dakota Johnson — a tousled do, pulled back into a low messy ponytail, with a few strategic strands pulled loose to frame the face. Super quick, super easy and super chic — it’ll definitely be our go-to for Valentines next month!

Statement red lips

In an elegant all black clothing palette, red lips prevailed. The likes of Claire Foy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mandy Moore and Zoe Kravitz all opted to make a statement with a bold red lip.

From silky berry reds to deep matte burgundies, you can discover the perfect red to complement your style and skin tone.

If you’re looking to make a impression with bold pops of colours for a more casual affair, why not opt for a pair of red shoes or an eye catching red handbag?

Wearing the pants

At this years Golden Globes we, perhaps unsurprisingly, saw women stepping away from the traditional dresses of red carpets gone by and into something a little more modern. Yes, 2018 is the year of the pant suit! We spotted androgynous power suits and glam jumpsuits on the likes of Lena Waithe, Claire Foy, Susan Sarandon and Alexis Bledel, and we can safely say we’ve been converted!

For a special occasion this year — a wedding or work party perhaps — why not break the mold in a fashion forward pant suit? Slick your hair back into a ponytail and team with simple loafers or classic flats for a chic finish, or add a touch of glamour with bed head waves and your favourite stiletto heels.

Statement jewellery

When completing a statement look, all too often it is the small touches that can make the biggest impression. Case in point at the Golden Globes; Samira Wiley’s gorgeous accent necklace!

With a unique ‘floating’ style, Samira’s embellished necklace was set on mesh at the neckline of her sleek black gown. We’ll certainly be stealing her style this season with oversized and eye-catching jewelled necklaces.

Black stilettos

Given the unofficial dress code, it is unsurprising that footwear remained largely chic, simple and (you’ve guessed it) black across the board.

From simple strappy black high heeled shoes to textured or glittery options, a black shoe is a classic, creating the perfect finishing touch to any number of outfits.

You can find out more about the Time’s Up movement, their mission, and why the stars of the Golden Globes wore black on the official Time’s Up website.

Step Back In Time: The 90s Shoe Trends That You’ll Fall In Love With All Over Again

Any fashionista will understand that trends can change as quickly as the seasons, and keeping at the forefront in terms of style can be tricky business.

However, we also know that all good trends tend to repeat themselves. Designers take inspirations from years gone by, and the styles that we thought we’d seen the back of ten or twenty years ago can resurface in the blink of an eye!

Over the last couple of years there is one era that has made it’s way quite firmly back into the limelight. Yep, we’re talking about the good old 90s! Footwear is taking a step back a couple of decades, with some key 90s trends once again becoming style staples.

From Spice Girls inspired platforms to military chic boots, we’re taking a look at all the greatest 90s footwear trends that are still making a huge impression today.

Sports luxe

From shell suits to branded sweaters, the sports trend of the 90s offered a haven for fans of a more casual style. With laid back, athletic inspired looks once again enjoying their moment in the spotlight, it’s nothing but good news for those who favour a more comfortable shoe.

We are, of course, talking about trainers. As the kings of the comfortable footwear world, trainers are perfect for daily wear — and we’re pleased to tell you comfort doesn’t have to mean a compromise on style!

The modern sports luxe trend is ideal for those wanting a comfortable, relaxed, yet on-trend look. This trend takes 80s and 90s styles and gives them a modern twist, with sleeker designs and contemporary detailing.

The Ami White Leather Trainers are our first port of call when creating a modern day sports inspired ensemble. With their slightly raised sole and feminine embroidered design, these ladies trainers are all you need to embrace sports luxe à la 2017. Choose from classic white trainers for a traditional look, or make a statement with eye catching gold fabric options.

Platforms

Girl Power reached a whole new level throughout the 90s — and so did our footwear! Bigger was most definitely better, with platform shoes an absolute must in the footwear collection of any fashionable lady.

Of all the 90s trends that have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, platforms were probably the most unexpected — but we can’t say we’re complaining! Platforms represent today much of what they did back in the 90s; they are, quite simply, fun!

Add a high-fashion yet playful edge to your modern day look with platform shoes or slab trainers — we love the stunning Astai Grey Satin Flatform Trainers. The slip on style, elasticated panels and padding means you get the best of both worlds: elevation, with a design that will actually remain comfortable all day (or night!) long. Throw in a metallic finish and eye catching embellishments and you have yourself a platform shoe fit for any modern day footwear addict!

Retro high tops

Now, we may be cheating just a little bit here, as next up is a trend that has never really gone out of style — classic high tops!

High top trainers burst onto the scene in the 60s, and have firmly cemented their place as a classic option for casual footwear lovers ever since. In the 90s retro high top trainers came into their own, worn with ultra relaxed ‘mum jeans’, simple tees and flannel check shirts for a laid back take on a daily look.

This classic look guarantees to make just as much of an impression today as it did 20 years ago. Opt for a high quality leather pair of high tops such as the Argentias Navy Leather Trainers, and team with a tee and 90s inspired denim to nail off-duty chic.

Military boots

In between the fun of the Spice Girls and the sporty styles that took the 90s by storm, edgier, grungier looks also enjoyed a moment. Combat boots were an essential in the wardrobe of any 90s fashionista, and this statement style is now also a firm favourite in 2017.

Add a little edge to your look with the Brandi Khaki Nubuck Boots. With their metal eyelet detailing and military chic shade, these flat boots are ideal for stepping up any outfit. Team yours with jeans and a shirt to emulate the chilled out vibe of the 90s, or pair with a pretty floral dress for a cool juxtaposition of styles.

What To Wear To Dazzle On Bonfire Night

One of the cosiest nights of the year is finally upon us. With bonfires, sparklers, mulled drinks and fireworks just around the corner we are, of course, talking about Bonfire Night!

With the evenings getting colder and darker, it’s that time of year when we need to start reevaluating our wardrobes. Gone are floaty summer dresses and strappy sandals, and out come the cosy coats, boots and accessories of autumn and winter.

For Bonfire Night clothing in particular, warmth and comfort is key. However, wrapping up definitely doesn’t have to mean dulling down!

Whether you’re heading out to a Bonfire event or you’re watching the fireworks from the end of your street, here at Moda in Pelle we have you covered. We’ve put together a Bonfire Night style guide, showing you how to wrap up in style and create your own fireworks with all the season’s latest fashions!

The Outfit

First things first — your staple Bonfire Night outfit! The beginning of November is always a tricky season for clothing; it’s not quite frostbite-in-your-toes freezing, but it’s certainly a long way from summer!

In autumn, transitional clothing is key. This means layers, layers, layers! Opt for chunky knitwear with a lighter winter coat thrown over — you can always take this off once the Bonfire starts warming up.

Autumnal colours are also a must. Keep an eye out for burnt orange shades, earthy greens and versatile neutrals for a colour palette that just screams autumn goddess!

We all know and love the comfort offered by our favourite pair of jeans, so denim is another Bonfire Night essential! Keep it fashion forward yet practical with relaxed fit boyfriend jeans that will have you feeling and looking great all night long.

The Shoes

You’re outdoors, it’s late, and you’re going to be spending a lot of time on your feet. When it comes to Bonfire Night footwear, forget the stiletto heels — practical and comfortable flat boots are where its at!

You need functional footwear that will keep your feet warm, will remain comfortable all night long, and that is suitable for any outdoor or potentially muddy situations. You also, obviously, want to look fantastic!

Tick all the boxes and embrace military chic this season with the incredible Brandi Black Nubuck Winter Boots. With their unique metallic chain detailing and edgy lace up style, you’ll be dressed to impressed and ready to take on any weather or setting.

For the ultimate in comfort, opt for a pair of leather boots. The Jalisa Black Leather Boot features elasticated panels around the calf for the ultimate in comfort — perfect for a long evening out enjoying the season’s festivities!

The Accessories

What is any good outfit without accessories? Particularly in autumn and winter, accessories become an absolute must. From cosy wooly hats to statement scarves, here are our top picks for those looking to nail Bonfire Night chic.

A cosy scarf or collar

From huge, oversized ponchos to keep you super snug on the coldest of nights, through to slim knitted scarves for a sophisticated finish, we offer a wonderful selection of scarves to perfect complete your autumn winter look.

For Bonfire Night, how about the ultra luxe Faycollar Multicoloured Faux Fur Collar? With incredibly soft faux fur and an eye catching multicoloured design, this opulent collar will add a touch of instant glamour to your cosy Bonfire Night ensemble.

Wooly Hat

An adorable wooly hat is a crucial wintertime accessory, keeping your head and ears toasty warm while giving any look a seasonal twist. For Bonfire Night, add a touch of sass and sparkle to your look with the Jazminehat Grey Fabric Hat. The gorgeous firework-esque crystal detailing will ensure you stand out from the crowds for all the right reasons.

Gloves

From clutching your mulled wine to waving sparklers, gloves are an essential for keeping your hands warm through all Bonfire Night throws at you! Match the little details in your Bonfire Evening look by opting for the Pioglove Grey Fabric Gloves. The grey shade and diamante studding will tie your hat to your gloves perfectly, while making sure you dazzle just as much as the fireworks!

Wherever you’re headed this Bonfire Night, at Moda in Pelle you can explore a stylish range of ladies boots and shoes that will instantly take any look to the next level.

Fall in Love with Winter’s Footwear Must-Haves

We’re not sure about you, but here at Moda in Pelle we’re thrilled to finally see the back of Summer. Autumn brings about a fresh start; we wave goodbye to lazy Summer days and say hello to crispy leaves, chunky scarves and copious amounts of pumpkin spiced lattes — ladies, you know the score.

These months really are the time to celebrate — because a change in the seasons means a change in your wardrobe too!

This year’s trends are shaping up to be very good news for our AW wardrobes. Shoe trends this season are leaning towards chunkier styles, with shorter heels and low-key detailing, and are all about having fun and embracing your inner rock chick. Finally, a trend that we can crack without having to walk in gravity-defying heels! Even if you live for black (and don’t we all!) this season’s trends offer subtle details to freshen up your winter footwear collection.

Edgy Laced Boots

Utility style women’s boots are back with a bang this AW, but more focus has been placed on lace-up styles rather than the chunky buckle trend circa 1990. These all-weather wonders are full of style and sass, and are versatile enough to be worn with a whole host of outfits.

Pair up your laced leather boots with a statement belt and leather jacket for an equally resilient look. Or, show them who’s boss and juxtapose your look by teaming your laced boots with a floaty floral frock to give you the ultimate urban cowgirl look.
