As the dust from Coachella settles and we gear up for festival season in the UK, now is the perfect time to take a closer look at one of our favourite topics here at Moda — festival footwear!

Festival footwear can be tricky. You, of course, want to look fabulous, but you also want to ensure you are comfortable enough to party the night away! With this in mind, we thought we’d take a closer look at some of the top festival footwear do’s and don’ts, alongside some of our favourite options to help you nail your festival looks this summer.

DON’T wear flip flops

While flip-flops are a quick and easy go-to throughout the summer months, they are most definitely a no-go for a festival! As comfortable and practical as flip-flops can be in the right situation, during a festival you’re surrounded by people, and open toe footwear is just asking for an injury. Leave the flip-flops at home, and instead opt for something that will keep your toes covered and protected.

DO keep it stylish and practical with biker boots

Biker boots are a no-brainer for a music festival. They are effortlessly cool, perfect for giving any look that rock chick edge. Choose a pair of rebellious biker boots, such as the Briana Black Leather, and wear with chunky socks and a pair of denim shorts for an appropriately vintage vibe.

DON’T wear heels

As with open toes sandals, heels are also a definitely no-go throughout festival season. Thousands of people + a single field = a whole lot of mud, and heels and mud are definitely not a good mix!

Definitely stay away from thin stiletto heels, unless you want to spend half of the event getting them stuck in the mud. If you desperately do want to add some height to your look, do it instead with fashion-forward flatforms or a pair of boho-inspired wedges.

DO keep it festival-ready with fringing

Fringing is a festival must, so why not work it into your shoes? A pair of casual, comfortable trainers incorporating fringe detailing are perfect for giving your look a festival-ready vibe. The Arlot Light Grey Leather trainers, featuring a practical sporty sole and fringe detailing to the upper, are our number one choice this festival season.

DON’T break in shoes for the first time at the event

There’s nothing worse than getting out of the house and then realising with horror that your brand new shoes don’t fit quite right, or are rubbing and causing foot pain. One of the worst places for this to happen is a music festival, where you’re going to be up on your feet for the majority of the event!

Avoid any painful footwear mishaps by ensuring your shoes are high quality, comfortable and fit well ahead of time. Wear your new shoes around the house for a day before the event, until you’re completely satisfied they’re the right size and fit comfortably.

DO have fun with colour

And finally, don’t forget the power of a pop of colour! Festivals are all about having fun, and what better way than investing in a pair of brightly coloured yellow trainers? Yellow is the must-have shade of the season; it is vibrant, bold and invokes an instant sense of happiness. We love the Fiarli Yellow Leather trainers to add that extra colourful ‘wow’ factor into our festival looks.

However you’re spending the summer, do it in style with the women’s footwear collection at Moda in Pelle. From casual shoes and trainers through to occasion and party shoes, you’re sure to find the perfect options to take your look to the next level.
